History of becoming Republic
India got Independence from British on 15th August 1947, where India fought for Indian Independence movement which is most peaceful civil disobedience followed by Indian National congress party. India got Independence from the Indian Independence Act of 1947 and it was developed by the united kingdom parliament, who partitioned British India into two countries like India and Pakistan. India got Independence on August 15th 1947, with George VI as state head and Earl Mountbatten as governor general. On 28th August 1947, drafting committee needs to draft a permanent constitution and Dr B.R Ambedkar was the chairman. A constitution draft was prepared by the committee and it was submitted to the assembly on November 4 1947. The 308 members of the Assembly signed hand written copies of document on 24th January 1950. After two days the constitution came into force.
Meaning of Republic Day:
Republic Day is maintained as India’s adoption of constitution on 26th January 1950, where we got Independence from the British rule. This was remarkable land stone, which none of the Indians forget. Republic Day is one of the public holidays we tend to celebrate. Other holidays we celebrate are Independence day on August 15th and Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2nd.
How Republic Day is celebrated?
In Delhi, festivities happens at capital. The main highlight of this Republic day is the parade from the Army, Navy and Air force and we can see their displays. Parade includes colorful things from different states of India. In each state a parade is hosted. On this day, the alcohol will not be available and the shops will be closed.
On this day most of them organize events and celebrations for remembering Republic Day. In New Delhi large military parades will be hosted and each in each state also a parade will be held. The representatives of the Army, Navy and Air Force will have traditional dance troupes which take part in parades. In New Delhi, a grand parade will be held and event start’s with India’s prime Minister laying a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti which is at India Gate for remembering soldiers who fought for our country. The Indian president will takes Military salute during parade in New Delhi. Each governor of the state will take military salutes from each state head. A foreign head will be president’s chief guest. Awards and medals will be given to people who are bravery and it is given to armed forces and to civilians. The armed forces helicopters will then shower rose petals on audience and the school children will take part participation in parade by dancing and singing patriotic songs. The stunts of motorcycle rides of Armed forces will be shown and the parade concludes with fly past from Indian Air force. Many national and cultural programs will be held for maintain the culture of India.. Children takes part in these programs.
